At our hospital we have the facility of radiotherapy that helps in curing cancer to a great extent. Cancer radiotherapy is the exposure of body parts to radiation i.e. beams of high-energy X-rays, gamma rays or particles. This technology destroys cancer cells that grow at an abnormally high rate. Cancer radiotherapy involves the following :

• One of the most important parts of cancer treatment such as skin cancers, cancer of the thyroid and brain tumors.
• With surgery, either before to reduce the size of a tumor or after to make sure that all the cancer cells are destroyed. It is also used to treat local spread of the cancer like treatment of breast cancer and also to perform in conjunction with chemotherapy (cancer-killing drugs).
• In emergencies, treatment of cancer by pressing on the spinal cord in order to reduce the size of the cancer and prevent damage to the nerves.
• As a palliative measure in advanced cases of cancer to treat symptoms like pain caused by the spread of cancer to the bones.

Since much emphasis is laid on treatment of cancer, the hospital also has a very good oncology care unit. Surgery is the most common way cancer treatment. More over surgery is the only way to treat certain types of cancers.

Medical Physics is that part of applied physics, which is related to the application of physics to medicine. We have state-of-the-art medical physics department. It works on research, technical development and clinical healthcare. The primary responsibility of medical physics is to ensure safe and effective delivery or radiation to achieve diagnostic or therapeutic result.
