1939 Corner stone laying ceremony performed by Mahatma Gandhi on Nov. 19, 1939.
1941 Inauguration of the Hospital on 28 Feb. 1941 by Mahatma Gandhi.
- Recognised as Training Centre for Midwifery candidates by the U.P State Medical Faculty.
1946 Antenatal Clinic Started.
- Pathology Department commenced services.
1949 Opening by Shri Rajaji Raj Gopalachari, the then Governor General of India of an Outpatient Department (Begum Abul Kalam Azad building) and start of cancer treatment.
1953 30-Curie Cobalt-60 unit commissioned with technical co-ordination and support provided by Dr. Homi J. Bhabha, Chairman Atomic Energy Establishment, Trombay.
1959 Inauguration of a well-equipped cancer wing by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the then Vice President of India.
1964 Affiliation to M L N Medical College, Allahabad to provide teaching and clinical facilities in Obstetrics & Gynaecology for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
1971 Recognised as Centre for Post Partum Programme of the Government of India.
1982 800 mA X-ray unit installed.
1984 Commissioning of Janus Cobalt- 60 Teletherapy Unit and Establishment of two Cancer Wards.
1986 Tubal re-canalization by microsurgical techniques started.
- Gynaecological Surgical Oncology, upgradation and modernization of existing facilities commenced.
- Programme of Rural Health Care at doorstep drawn up.
1987 Installation and commissioning of Theratron 780C Cobalt Unit, Remote control Selectron LDR Caesium-137 system.
- Installation of RT-3000 Ultrasonographic Unit, with special facility of biopsy probe.
- A programme for providing Accelerated Primary Health Care at the grass root level to rural and urban slum population under Rural Health Project of PVOH I programme launched, aided by USAID & Govt. of India.
- Shri Rajiv Gandhi and Smt. Sonia Gandhi visited the hospital on Aug. 1, 1987 and inaugurated the Theratron 780 C complex and modernization programme of cancer treatment.
- Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India and President of Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital Society laid the foundation stone of Base Hospital for Rural Health Project at Newada Samogarh, Chaka Block (Naini), Allahabad.
1988 Kamala Nehru Memorial Rural Hospital started functioning in the new building at Newada Samogarh Village, Allahabad.
1989 Installation of Whole body CTW 700 (Hitachi Make) X-ray CT Scanner under Indo-Japan collaboration programme.
- Shri Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India and President of Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital Society laid the foundation stone of a 250 bedded extension programme of the Hospital Complex - Indira Gandhi Bhavan.
- Kamala Nehru Memorial Gold Medal for the best student in Obstetrics & Gynaecology of M.L.N. Medical College initiated.
1990 Commemoration of Golden Jubilee of the Hospital on 28th Feb. with the hosting of 17th National Conference of Indian Association for Radiation Protection and U.P. Chapter of Association of Radiation Oncologists of India.

1991 Recognised by Central Board of Examinations for DNB PG teaching and training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Radiology, Radiotherapy and Pathology.
- Installation of three foetal monitors for Cardiotopography and non-stress testing etc. for high-risk cases
- Separate full-fledged Medical Physics Department established.
- Recognised as AIDS surveillance centre by National AIDS Control Organization, GOI.
1992 Recognised as Regional Institute of Maternal and Child Health.
- USAID and GOI sponsored PVOH-II Project entitled 'Intensive programme of Medical Health and Family Welfare to Improve Social and Economic structure of project population' was started.
1993 Co-opted as Centre for Research in Radiation Oncology, Medical Physics and Nuclear Medicine by Department of Atomic Energy, GOI.
- Diagnostic Van for Cancer Detection was procured with support of LIC and GOI joint efforts.
- Department of Neonatology started.
1994 Recognised as Regional Cancer Centre of Government of India for Uttar Pradesh and adjoining region.
- Department of General Surgery started.
- Oncosurgery, Neurosurgery facilities started.
1995 Training cum Production Center to impart vocational training to rural women was established.
- Hospital Pharmacy services started.
1997 Microbiology Lab started.
- Radioimmunoassay Lab started with the support of BRIT, DAE, GOI.
- SIFPSA Project awarded.
- RAD Plan Radiotherapy Computerized Planning System Commissioned.
1998 Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, President of KNMH Society visited the Hospital and launched "Project Hope" in Kaushambhi and surrounding areas of Allahabad District.
- Endoscopic Equipment added to the Hospital Operation Theatre for minimal access surgery.
- Recognised as State level Vocational Counseling & Testing Center for HIV/AIDS by National AIDS Control Organization, GOI.
1999 PRIME Intrah Project awarded.
- Colour Doppler Ultrasound added to the Diagnostic Department.
- Multi-well RIA auto - gamma counter commissioned for Hormonal and Tumour marker studies.
- Birth Centenary celebrations of Smt. Kamala Nehru concluded on August 1, 2000.
- Smt. Sonia Gandhi, President, KNMH, visited the Hospital on Aug. 1, 1999 and visited the upgradation of radiology wing which was renamed as Centenary Wing of the hospital.
2000 C-Arm Stenography added to the Diagnostic Department.
- Endoscopic surgery further strengthened.
- Electrolytic analyzer added.
- Micro Selectron HDR & 3D Plato Radiation Treatment Planning system facility added.

2001 Launched Pilot Project for Modified District Cancer Control Programme in U.P.
- Project on Action for Slum Dwellers Reproductive Health, Allahabad (ASRHA ) sponsored by CARE started.
2002 Hospital Based Cancer Registry Project sponsored by WHO Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India adopted.
- Gastroenterology facility added with introduction of Diagnostic facility like Colonoscope, Colposcope & Duednoscope added.
- Mammomet 3000 Mammography Unit with stereotactic biopsy probe added.
- 500 MA X-ray unit and 100 mA Mobile X-ray Unit added.
- Up gradation of Anaesthesia department was taken up and capanograph, pulse oximeter and multi parameters for monitoring the all vital parameters added.
- Radiant Heat Warmer with Resuscitation attachment added.
- Alternative power supply provided with the installation of a 285 KVA Generator Set.
2003 Project Population Screening Programme for Cancer of the Cervix, Breast and Oral Cavity sponsored by WHO and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India undertaken by RCC at Chaka Block.
- Project Palliative Care Services in RCCs sponsored by WHO & Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of India undertaken.
- Recognised as a collaborating centre of the DAE for clinical trial of new treatment regimen with Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai as Nodal centre.
- Steps initiated to telelink Regional Cancer Centre with Tata Memorial Hospital.
- Community Oncology wing started in the Rural Hospital.
2004 Microselectron HDR commissioned.
- Comprehensive Hospital Management Information System with web compatibility initiated.
- Microselectron HDR commissioned.
- Palliative Care started in Oncology Wing.
- Colpomicroscope has been added in O&G
- Community Oncology wing Rural Hospital for early detection of Cancer in females.
- Neonatology Deptt., has been strengthen with induction of multipara monitor.
2005 Radiant heat Warmer, Phototherapy Unit and procurement of Ventilator in 2005.
- Computerized attendance system with photo-identification system introduced.
- Babylog 8000 plus - A state-of-art dedicated neonatal ventilator
2006 40 slice multi detector whole body CT scanner with 3 D imaging facility commissioned.
- 3D ASHA Treatment Planning System with DICOM facilities and Radiotherapy server, multi-nodal image distribution system commissioned.
