The Kamala Nehru memorial Hospital aims to become a Centre of Excellence for Reproductive Health and Oncology and provide a comprehensive health care and treatment to the women and children of the rural areas of north India. To achieve this, the department has been continuously integrating and upgrading its facilities and provide treatment, rehabilitation and research, all under one roof.

Some of the future initiatives of the hospital are:

• To be named as " Indira Gandhi Bhawan - A centre with its specialization in field of reproductive health care and oncology, " so that the people of this region need not suffer socio-economic dislocation and need not have to travel to far off places like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.
• To conduct such researches which are required to optimize the treatment effectiveness to reduce Infant & Maternal mortality.
• The Institute will house all modern facilities for Reproductive Health Care to work for Infertility Research, Assisted Reproductive Technology and Genomenic Research for overall well being of the society.
• To conduct basic and applied research in Reproductive Health Care, Genomenic Research, Hormonal Assessment, Radiation Oncology, Medical physics, nuclear medicine, radiation-biology, genetic engineering, endocrinology, microbiology, biochemistry, haematology using front line modern bio-technology for evolving potential techniques and agents for achieving a break-through in these areas of facilities.

There are scanty facilities available for reproductive health care and oncology to the people in the rural areas of UP. The hospitals are equipped with vintage of 60's and the 80's and state-of-art treatment facilities are lacking. The hospital proposes to bridge the gap and make available comprehensive state-of-art treatment and research facilities to the people under one roof in the region.

The institute offers health officials and advocates the opportunity to look at recent research on the effects of social systems, community context, social capital and economic inequality and to examine how findings may be applied to change social systems and, in turn, to enhance the well-being of women and children.

The department conducts basic and applied research in Reproductive Health Care, Genomenic Research, Hormonal Assessment, Radiation Oncology, Medical physics, nuclear medicine, radiation-biology, genetic engineering, endocrinology, microbiology, biochemistry, haematology using front line modern bio-technology for evolving potential techniques and agents for achieving a break-through in these areas of facilities. Most of the research and intervention are focused on individual characteristic and risk factors of women and children.

With its belief in high ethical standards, the department helps citizens and communities take center stage and become active participants in solving our nation's maternal and child health problems in the New Millennium.

The Hospital also has a Post Graduate Teaching facility. Since 1964, the Hospital is affiliated to M.L.N. Medical College, Allahabad to provide teaching & clinical facilities in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to undergraduate and postgraduate students. It is affiliated to the National Board of Examinations for Diplomat of National Board (DNB) in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Radiotherapy, Pathology and Radio diagnosis. The Hospital also offers PG Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Paediatrics & Child Health from Indian College of Maternal & Child Health.

The hospital aims to develop academic and clinical centre of excellence for National and International collaboration in the field of Clinical Oncology and Reproductive Health Care and to establish a necessary co-ordination mechanism with International Institutions working in Reproductive Health Care on Oncology and for optimizing the benefits of contemporary innovations by exchange of personnel for better absorption of emerging technology.

Some of the other academic initiative of the hospital are as follows :

• To work for human resource development and provide high quality teaching and training facilities to Doctors, Scientists, Technologists, Biomedical Engineers, Health Administrators and Health MIS Personnel .
• To develop innovative technology for capacity improvement, better resource management relevant to Reproductive Health and Oncology care and evolving the strategies for self-sustainment of the project so that it can contribute to socio-economic viability both to the patient and the project.
