Inaugrated in 1941, Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital (KNMH), has become a prominent name dedicated to health care and well being of the society. While, started as a centre for mother and child health care, it is one of the best Mother-Child health care centres of the country. Equipped with the modern facilities and advanced health care equipment, KNMH has also emerged as the country's third largest comprehensive cancer care and treatment centre.

KNMH is a national tribute to the memory of respected Kamla Nehru, a monument of selfless service to humanity. The hospital had its humble beginning with Obstetrics & Gynecology departments. Later, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru on occasion of his birthday, 14 Nov,1943, announced the establishment of new cancer wing that has become a mile stone today. Late Mrs Indira Gandhi and her son Rajiv Gandhi have also contributed to make it an unparalleled organization and acted as one of the dedicated trustees. With the same level of dedication and commitment, today Sonia Gandhi contributes to the hospital, in the capacity of the President and Trustee of the organization.

KNMH is proved to be a boon for the people of remote areas and is one of the largest center that is not only catering U.P. and its neighboring states but also treats the patients from Nepal, Sikkim and Bhutan, covering a population of over 3 million.

Apart from health care, we have also worked for social welfare like No Tobacco Day, National Cancer and HIV/AIDS awareness. Spreading awareness amongst poor and down trodden in the slum areas has been our main focus. We regularly visit slums and villages for their care and treatments.

Our Hospital serves as a crucial base for Mother and Child Health care and Cancer treatment. We have earned recognition by running technology based charitable organization.

Gynaecology - Specific emphasis is laid on Reproductive Health detection, treatment and its research. We are well equipped with all the modern machines with latest technology to scan health needs of mother and child. We follow the vision of Kamalaji, "A Healthy Mother & a Healthy Child."

Cancer - Our Center is fully equipped with screening and integrated laboratory facilities for Cancer detection, prevention, diagnosis and all strategies which are required to optimize the treatment and enhance the cure to achieve a good survival rate of cancer patients. We have excelled and earned a reputation as one of the leading Radiation Oncology Centers of National importance.

Our infrastructure is equipped with Radio diagnosis department catering to various needs of Oncology, Gynecology & Obstetrics, Surgery, Urology, Neurology and Paediatrics. We also have highly sophisticated Pathology and neuropathology department that enables us to successfully treat the most fatal disease, "Cancer".

Our Anesthesia Department is an integral part of the organization with state-of-the-art facilities for monitoring patients related to all vital parameters. Today it has become an important source for relieving pain during operations. The department offers multi-dimensional and multi-disciplinary support to general as well as the cancer patients.

Following ethical standards, we initiated social programs that is a necessary step towards the healthy development of the society. We look after the rural health care and take special steps in some of the important nation wide health program like polio drives, free medical check ups, and free distribution of medicines.

Apart from these health program we also spread awareness to the mass on family planning, health education, AIDS etc. Through our awareness program, we have successfully imparted knowledge to slum people on issues related to reproduction, safe sex, male responsibility towards woman. Our focus has been in improving the standard and the quality of life of deprived ones.

Our project, Health for the Poor and Enduring (HOPE), is a big hit. Doctors visit the villages frequently and provide free services for their well-being and we have received a brilliant response from the mass.
