Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital
The Hospital initiated a Rural Health program in 1986. Shri. Rajiv Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India and President of Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital Society, laid the foundation stone of Kamala Nehru Memorial Rural Hospital in 1987 at Village Newada Samogarh, Naini, Allahabad. The Rural Hospital was inaugurated in 1988. The Hospital serves as a base centre for preventive oncology and cancer detection at the grass root level in the surrounding villages. A Community Oncology wing was established in the Rural Hospital in 2003.

The rural campus of KNMH, located in Naini, in Allahabad was inspired by the vision of Rajiv Gandhi. This project not only promotes awareness of better nutrition and hygiene, but also conducts regular immunization programmes. Hospital workers contribute to the empowerment of women by providing vocational training to promote economic self reliance in the region. The main objective of this project was to provide accelerated primary health care and improve maternal and child health at the grass root level.

Rural Health Activities of the Hospital include

Rural Health Centre of the Hospital

The Hospital has established a 15 bed rural hospital to provide composite primary health care at the grass root level to the village population.

Plans to upgrade this hospital to a 40 bed hospital are underway. Land and trained personnel are being contributed on behalf of the hospital, however there is a great shortage of funds, which are urgently required for construction, maintenance and equipment. The management of the hospital would like the hospital to be self-sufficient by the year 2003.
