The Surgery department was
established in 1994 for meeting the multifaceted needs of general and
cancer patients. Soon after the Hospital earned the recognition as RCC.
The oncological surgery unit was further strengthened and has since then
played a pivotal role by bringing several innovations in oncology care.
The gynaecological, Neuro, paediatric and uro-oncology Programmes were
vigorously pursued which have successfully blended new spectrum in the
combined modality approach of cancer treatment.
In the year around 5000 patients attended the OPD and 400 major/minor
Surgical treatment were provided to the patients during the current
financial year. The major thrust in onco-surgery has been amalgamation
of the frontal technology along with conventional surgery to meet the
vast demand of patients. Organ preservation ,Tumourctomy, Breast
conservation , has been some of the bench mark of the department which
were offered either in combination with Radiotherapy or alone for
curative treatment.
General surgery performed by the department has successfully utilized
the scope of C Arm, endoscopes and other minimal access procedures for
speedy recovery of the patient. Lymph node clearance, cholecystectomy,
gastrointestinal surgery, ovarian tumor resection, uterine
malignancies, hysterectomy were some of the major procedures performed
during the year.
The Surgical unit extended the support to other departments as a well
knit team. The uro-surgery extended its special care for TURP, TURBT,
Kidney, uretral, urethral and reconstruction surgery. The Neuro surgery
unit attracts a large number of patients and has helped the cancer
patients in its management . List of major facilities are furnished
