The Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital, under its rural health programme has initialed various income generation activities for the socio-economic development of rural women of Chaka Block of Allahabad District.

The following draining programmes are being implemented in the project area to improve socio-economic status of women.

• Tailoring & embroidery
• Knitting
• Typing
• Agro products-manufacturing and preserving
• Basket making
• Stuffed toys etc.

During the training, the trainees are paid a remuneration of Rs. 10/- per day. After training, they can start such cottage industries of their own with the assistance of Banks, cooperative societies or the community.

All the products prepared by them are marketed under the banner of Rural Health Programme, Kamala Nehru Memorial Hospital. The sales counters are situated at the Out-patient Department of the Hospital. In addition to this, sales girls are employed on commission basis for the door to door sale of products.
